MEN OF BETHANY MINISTRY

Winning Souls for Christ

Psalm 133:1

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

The Men of Bethany: Who We Are

The Men of Bethany (affectionately known as the MOB) was formally established on April 5th, 1997 in the living room of Bethanite Willie Rowe, by Brother L.C. Steward and others.
The MOB not only became a spiritual and overall church support organization led by Christian Men at Bethany, but under the leadership of Brother Rod Miles in 2009, became a ministry of men setting the spiritual standards of Christianity and Brotherhood.  The MOB adopted its guiding scripture of Psalms 133:1 as the mission scripture: “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” and established its Mission Statement: “Build Christian Leaders at Home, in Church and the Community. Winning Souls for Christ.
This Leadership continues to grow and expand under the current president, Brother Jimmy Valentine.  Brother Valentine has assembled a small group of Christian Brothers to share in the MOB Leadership and as its permanent Steering Committee.  They include Brothers; Victor Williams, Rod Miles, Stephon Valentine, Floyd Piper, Jr, Aaron Castille, Herman Tatum and newly added member Joe Williams.  Together they form the nucleus of this unique and talented group of Christian Men at the Bethany Baptist Church of West Los Angeles, ready to serve, build unity and do the work of the Lord and to grow spiritually.

Vision / Mission Statement

To build a united men’s ministry that develops and encourages men to be Christian leaders in the home, the church, and the community at large.

Hospitality/Pastor Aid

Hospitality/Pastor’s Aid-Who We Are:

  • Greet & welcome our visitors & present them with a welcome package.
  • Recognize and honor members & visitors.

Bethany Baptist Church Hospitality Committee was formed in the early 1980’s by Dr. Rocellia Johnson, organizing pastor. Pastor Johnson saw people being greeted at Bethany by smiling faced and whose well- placed words of encouragement would turn frowns into smiles. The National Evangelism Movement was on the move and people were visiting Bethany from every corner of the city as well as outermost states. He had a vision. He called upon Jacqueline Jordan, a well-known sunshine lady of Bethany, to spearhead a group of ladies who would meet and greet people.

He shared his vision and enthusiasm with Sister Jordan and it proved contagious for she became a zealous supporter of Pastor’s dream. At that time they would be called the Hostesses. Before long Bethany’s Hostesses were well known throughout the city for the pleasant, outgoing, concerned and friendly attention given to those who crossed through the doors of Bethany Baptist Church West Los Angele and the National Evangelism Movements.

Today, they still are providing the same level of care and attention as they serve God’s people everywhere.

Value Statement:

The Bethany Baptist Church of West Los Angeles Hospitality/Pastor’s Aid Ministry is committed to providing exceptional hospitality by embracing the values of diversity, love, humility, and service, as exemplified by our Lord. We believe in fostering a welcoming environment where every guest feels cared for and appreciated. Our dedication, kindness, attention to detail, and our desire to create meaningful relationships, ensure that all who interact with us leave with a positive and memorable experience.

We are committed to serving with compassion and respect; recognizing the unique needs of our Pastor and his family. Guided by faith, and spirit of love and humility; we believe in creating a supportive atmosphere that honors the well-being of our Pastor; fostering unity and shared responsibility within our congregation.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Hospitality/Pastor’s Aid Ministry is to serve the leadership, membership, and guests of the Bethany Baptist Church of West Los Angeles. We will assist our Pastor with spiritual encouragement through fervent prayer, encouraging words, and expressions of appreciation. We will provide support for the progress of our Pastor’s leadership as he serves God for the edifying of the Saints in our faith community. We will continually assure that all members and guests feel the Spirit of kindness, love, and fellowship of our church family.

Vision Statement:

The vision of the Bethany Baptist Church of West Los Angeles Hospitality/Pastor’s Aid Ministry is to cultivate a warm, inviting, and all-inclusive atmosphere; whereby every individual feels valued, respected, and cared for; ensuring that all guests experience the comfort and love of Jesus while connected with this community of believers.

We strive to cultivate a nurturing environment that fosters the well-being of our Pastor and his family; ensuring that he is equipped to shepherd or congregation effectively, and fulfill his calling with joy and confidence.
